The construction of a bypass manhole at the sewage pumpstation facility.

    • Demolition of existing pumpstation superstructure and conversion of the existing substructure into a grit trap (renovations to be undertaken once the new pumpstation is commissioned).
    • The construction of a mechanical screening facility consisting of a reinforced concrete substructure (±5.5m below NGL) and brick walled superstructure with a concrete roof.
    • The construction of a sewage pumpstation consisting of a reinforced concrete substructure (±7.6m below NGL) and brick walled superstructure with a concrete roof.
    • The installation of mechanical and electrical equipment to the screening facility and pumpstation.
    • The construction of a 4100m long 355mm diameter class 9 PVC-u pipeline with associated thrust blocks, air valve chambers and scour valve chambers at depths ranging between 1m and 3m from Nooiensfontein pumpstation to Belville WWTW.
    • The construction of a 100m long 110 mm diameter class 9 PVC-u pipeline at depths ranging between 1m and 2m from the new Nooiensfontein pumpstation to tie into the existing rising main to divert flow to the Baden Powell sewer in order to maintain self-cleansing velocities.
    • The construction of a 40m long 250mm ND steel pipe across the Nooiensfontein Road Bridge at ground level on the bridge deck.
    • The construction of a 75m long 970mm ID concrete sleeve installed by means of micro tunnelling crossing beneath the R300.
    • The construction of a 55m long 970mm ID concrete sleeve installed by means of micro tunnelling crossing beneath the Metrorail / Prasa railway line.
    • The provision of shoring and dealing with ground water for the construction of the screening facility; pumpstation; pipeline and associated structures; and thrust and reception pits for pipe jacking.
    • Connection of the rising main to the existing Bellville Waste Water Treatment Works inlet works.
    • 4km 355mm uPVC Rising Main

This Contract comprised the construction of a new pump station and booster and a 4km length of 315 uPVC sewer rising main. The contract also includes the excavation and complete re-construction of one lane within Sacks Circle, with all associated drainage and layerworks etc.
